Hi Everyone!

I hope you all have been enjoying dance as much as Nicole and I have so far this year! We have just a few updates for you:

Nov Term Payments: Just a reminder that Nov 20^th payments will be cashed this week.

Costumes: Costumes will be here in time for Festival of Trees and the Dessert show fundraiser ( more details on both below). Costumes will only be distributed to dancers who have any outstanding invoices paid and all their post-dated cheques submitted. If you have not submitted these yet please do so ASAP to ensure you child can wear her costume for these performances.

Christmas Open House: Its that time of year already! We are so excited to invite dancers' families to come join us for our Christmas open house for the last week of classes before our Christmas break. Please see the schedule below, we have changed a few class times to allow working parents to be able to attend. Gr 6-7 and Teen classes will have regular classes and invite parents in for the last 15 minutes, to observe. As always we will be doing a small gift exchange between dancers. Please spend no more than $5 and let your child's teacher know if you would prefer not to participate.

Dessert Show Fundraiser: This is a very exciting opportunity for your child to perform on stage before the year-end recital. This show will be a fundraiser for our competitive Dance Company team. It will be held Friday, Dec 4^th at 7pm at Woodstock Middle School. The following classes will be participating:

Tue Pre-School (ballet slippers)

Wed Gr K-1 (jazz shoes)

Wed Gr 2-3 (jazz shoes)

Wed Gr 4-5 (jazz shoes)

Thur Pre-School (tap shoes)

Thur Gr K-1 (jazz shoes)

Thur Gr 2-3 (jazz shoes)

Thur Gr 6-7 (jazz shoes)

Dancers should arrive at 6:45 in costume, with assigned shoes. They will be met by assistants to take them back stage.

Admission to the show will be $10 and includes many fabulous desserts.

Dance Company Auditions: We will be holding auditions for a new group of Dance Company competitive dancers on Nov 17^th from 6:15-7:15. If you love to dance, can learn quickly, are very dedicated, are 8 years of age or older and want to be part of an amazing team please join us for auditions. To audition you will need: $5 audition fee, Dance Company waiver ( can be found online at www.smithdanceacademy.com/dancecompany), and a great attitude. Auditioners will be asked to perform kicks, leaps, turns and a short dance of their choice. Only dancers who have any outstanding invoices paid and all their post-dated cheques submitted will be permitted to audition. More detailed information on dance company can be found online.

Festival of Trees: This event will be on Dec 5^th this year. It will be held in the community room of the Civic Center. Please bring your dancer in their costume with the assigned shoes at the time designated below. We appreciate your patience as seating is usually scarce at this event, but we have spaced out the classes in an effort to accommodate everyone.

Music: You can now find a complete Music list on the web-site, under the Woodstock Information page. We encourage you to download this music for your child so she can practice at home.

Shoes: All dancers need black tap and jazz shoes. If you are still looking for shoes please fill out the form attached to this note and give it to your teacher and we will have shoes ready for you to try on at your next class.

Workshop Opportunity: So You Think You Can Dance's Napoleon and Tabitha D'Umo will be in Fredericton, along with many other talented teachers Dec 20-22. The cost of the three day workshop of classes in tap, jazz, hip hop , street jazz and many others is $$$ If you are interested in attending please e-mail amanda@smithdanceacademy.com
